Teak (scientific name: Tectona grandis L.F.), also known as Burmese Teak, Royal Teak, or Bloodwood, is a deciduous or semi-deciduous large tree that can reach heights of 40–50 meters (130–165 feet) with a straight trunk and a diameter at breast height (DBH) of 2–2.5 meters (6.5–8.2 feet). Its bark is brown or gray, and its branches are quadrangular (four-angled) and covered with stellate (star-shaped) hairs. The leaves are opposite, very large, ovate to elliptical in shape, and densely covered with grayish-yellow stellate hairs on the underside. It produces broad, showy panicles (flower clusters) in autumn, bearing fragrant white flowers.

A tropical species, teak thrives in warm climates and is typically found at elevations below 700–800 meters (2,300–2,600 feet) in low mountains, hills, and plains. Valued for its medicinal properties, teak is also a premium material for high-end furniture, flooring, and indoor/outdoor decorative applications. Renowned as Myanmar’s national treasure, teak is highly expensive due to its scarcity and exceptional quality. Its wood features elegant grain patterns and golden veins, earning it the name Golden Vein Teak.
